Introduction To Paleo – Rebecca Field

 

As some of you will have seen from my blog and social media, I sway towards the paleo lifestyle about 70-80% of the time.

The paleo principle focuses on a diet free from grains, gluten, pulses and processed sugar, instead focusing on whole foods like meat, fish, vegetables, fruit nuts and seeds.

The diet on the whole suits my body, and although I occasionally include some of the foods off the paleo list I really love cooking paleo inspired recipes.

Introduction to PaleoI was recently sent a copy of INTRODUCTION TO PALEO by Rebecca Field of Paelo Diet And Fitness to review on Balanced Being. 

What struck out immediately were the parallels to Rebecca’s background with my own, and the torturous years of dieting we both experienced in our past. It’s a great opener to the book that I feel many women will identify with. There’s also a wonderful insight into how she meet her husband after following the paleo diet and finally finding peace with her body.

Split into 12 sections the book gives detail on what paleo involves, how it can help you lose weight, the benefits and a 7 day diet to get you started. 

Unlike the Whole30 that’s very restrictive and difficult to follow for newbies (unless you live in a cave, and it’s almost impossible if have a very busy social lifestyle. I completed it, but only just!) this is a much more manageable introduction to the lifestyle.

The book also includes a number of basic and easy to follow recipes to include on your 7 day plan.

One recipe that stood out for me was the Cauliflower couscous that I’ll be featuring next week on the blog. I recreated the dish recently and I have to say it was absolutely delicious!

Verdict?

The book as it says on the tin is the perfect introduction to what I would prefer to call a ‘lifestyle’ rather than a diet, which can have connotations of being highly restrictive. I am confident it will give you a lovely insight into the benefits of paleo whether you become an avid follower, or want to clean up your diet and use some of the principles to maintain a healthier and more balanced lifestyle in the future.
